Time Is Of Little Consequence

Some one said that to me the other day. It really hit me like a ton of bricks. It was said in the spirit that waiting, in a sense, is of little consequence (I think). It was an amazing thing to say – it hit me that way at that moment in time, anyhow.
So I have been working on a little ditty in bed for the last couple of nights & that line became the title. I’ll post the tune when it’s closer to being done. I’m not completely sure I like the “B” section, but I think I’ll keep it. It’s been a drag writing it – well, to be honest, it’s been a drag editing it. I did “live” recordings of the MIDI tracks just to get my juices flowing. So, of course, since they’re just ideas and sketchy, they are all out of sync with each other. Just sort of composing it by the seat of my pants to get started, at least. So now, rather than re-record all of the tracks (there are 9 or 10, I think), I’ve just been digging in the muck of the piano-roll notes & velocities. It’s pretty cool, but it’s a drag, too.
I’m putting up a sketch of what I’ve done so far. It’s still kinda rough, but the mix, at least, is starting to take shape. So I’m glad of that. The form is still iffy. Like I said, I’m not completely sure about the B section – there are really, sort of… in a sense – 2 B sections. At least that’s how I am conceiving of them currently. It will most likely, though, turn out to be some sort of arch form… We’ll see, I guess. I have my ideas…. but feel free to give me yours! I probably won’t take any advice, but it’ll help me look at things from the outside, perhaps.
At this point, I’m just using sounds from my Yamaha CS-80, some built-in synths in Logic & maybe some Pluggo, my Moog Modular for some nasty effects, and Absynth. I like it, I think. But I can never really be sure until it’s too late to stop working on it. I’m mulling over the idea of putting in some Stick™ and electric guitar. Sort of double all of the synth lines. Not sure yet, though.
