Audient Music
I plan to gradually add bits & pieces to this page. It's too much to put down *everything* about me in one sitting. I am much too complicated! (just a joke)
To get things started, I will post a link to some of my "religious" beliefs. Enjoy!

So.... I am currently employed at Presbyterian College where I wear a number of different hats.
I was initially hired as a computer technician. Basically I was there to fix computers and provide desktop support for faculty and their related staff (secretaries, etc.). The short version of the long version that follows a bit further down this page is that I needed a job even though it wasn't actually related to my academic training at all, it seemed.
Nonetheless, I persevered (all the while enjoying my job as much as I could) and eventually wormed my way into teaching a Form & Analysis course for the music department. Over the years I ended up taking on more & more responsibilities for Acadmic Computing which allowed my boss to suggest to the President of the college that there be some sort of oversight of the entire IT department rather than having Administrative Computing and Academic Computing be, for all intents and purposes, separate entities. It turned out to be a pretty good idea, I think. I'm still sort of a loner outside the rest of the IT department simply because I tend to deal with the faculty side of things rather than the admin side of thing. That's a fine thing for me.
I was given the title of Assistant Director of Information Technology for Academic Systems. It sounds more impressive that it is. Honestly, I sometimes feel like it's too pretentious, but it is what it is, I suppose. In the last few years, I have begun to teach more and more. I am so lucky that I get to do that. It's my favorite thing that I do at PC. I am now teaching Elementary Harmony, Elementary Sight-Singing & Ear Training, Intro to Music Technology, Counterpoint, and even a Systems Administration course for the Computer Sciene Department. I'm not being paid for the Harmony & SS/ET classes, but I enjoy them so much I don't really mind so much. At some point i'll try to have a conversation with the pwoers that be, but now's not the time. Anyhow, the good news for me is that I was also given the title of Assistant Professor of Music, which I think is pretty cool. It's not full-time & it's certainly not tenure-track, but it's cool. You should see my business card! Holy Cow! Asst. Dir. of IT for Academic Systems & Assistant Professor of Music. It's just sickening to have all that stuff....
There is something to be said for enjoying one's job. I feel lucky that I do.
