about

I started off with my first PC in 1988 when I was in my second year of college in Boston. It was an IBM PS/2 and it was awesome. I used that computer for a long time. I think I still have it somewhere. I got it just so that I could run Music Printer Plus to create my scores for class and for my own use. That computer was a big deal because it had a 10 MB HARD DRIVE(!) and 640KB of RAM. Top of the line, man. Top of the line.

I've used CSound, Common Music, Max/MSP, and Logic Audio and Finale (Finale95, I think? If there was a 95....I know I had Finale98 on a Compaq PC (with 2MG of RAM and a 20MB hard drive!) at some point. I remember using 4 or 5 floppy disks to install it) to write most of these pieces. I started with CSound on an old Windows98 box along with Logic back when eMagic made it. I think I started with version 3.5. Crazy old stuff...

....which leads me to this iteration of the site....

After the pain of completely losing my site to a hard drive crash (with a bad backup), for the longest time I just had a picture of Dillan Lauren holding a phone with text that read "This is a dead site...hold the line...we'll be back soon...". When it's completely back to life, so to speak, I'll be able to remove that image and the "zombie" wording so it'll look like a nice, normal site again.

This is a zombie site. Soon there will be some stuff about me and what makes me tick personally, psychologically, and musically. It'll probably take me a while to get to it, so please be patient. This site has come back to life from a crash that took everything out....hard drive AND backup drive failed at the same time...Hold the line. We'll be right back...
