new marillion album
...
The album is alternatively being called
Album
14 and
Somewhere
Else. I'd be willing to bet that
this record will be considerably different than the
Marbles
record they released a few years ago. The
Marbles
record was one of their fancy-schmancy "concept" albums akin to their
Brave
record released back in the early
90's.
Brave is an almost perfect concept record for me. It's not exactly an uplifting story, but it's beautifully told and beautifully performed. Marbles is not quite as perfectly put together, but I'm not sure it was meant to be. It's less of a "story" or "opera" than Brave was. Marbles is sort of a set of tunes that are loosely held together with an idea (here, the narrator (for lack of a better term) losing his marbles...figuratively, and perhaps literally).
Marillion's website is a great place to "find a better way of life". The music index page is the best place to start looking for their music. There's a ton of it to buy (god, it's almost like all the Grateful Dead live recordings!)...and almost all of it is worth the $$$.
