metronome
...
Since I've been working on my Stick™ rudiments recently, though, I've found the need to use one.
I'd used an OS X based metronome for a while called Metrognome that I VERY much liked. It's hard to explain exactly why I liked it, but I did. The GUI, I guess....who knows.....Anyhow, the timing wasn't that good for it, though. It'd hiccup pretty regularly & that's just not good for a metronome to do.
I found another one the other day....(I still need to give the guy his $8 - it's donation-ware & I try to support that!). It's just called Metronome & it's completely winning me over. The two perfect things about it are that 1) you can operate it with one hand (not what you're thinking! it's so i don't have to let go of my Stick™) (okay, maybe it *is* what you're thinking!), and 2) it has an "accelerator" function. The cool thing about that is that you can tell the metronome to loop however many times you want (say 16 bars), then increase the tempo by whatever amount you wish. So I can start working with a phrase that's 8 bars long & every time I get through it, the tempo will go up 1 or 2 BPM - so eventually I can work up to, say, 120BPM from 80 BPM.
That *alone* is worth 8 bucks! Sheesh I should pay this guy for sure!!
