piano lessons

...

The hardest thing for me is that I *know* what I need to know. I have all this "book" knowledge....all the theory stuff is there, obviously. But I just can't play. So it's interesting to try to let go of what I "know" and approach the piano as though I don't know anything. My main issue is just getting my fingers to do that they are supposed to do. Isn't that *everyone's* issue on piano?

For me, that most difficult thing at the moment is to not look at my fingers. So for the most part, that's what I've been working on this week....just playing through three or four Bach chorale harmonizations by "feel", so to speak. It's a god-awful sound at the moment. Trying to be sure I don't move to the next chord until I *know* where my fingers need to move is tricky for me. And of course, I am playing things MUCH too fast.

I'm working, though, so perhaps I'll improve. I sure hope I do.
