Tidelands

I'm really dying to! I've ordered the book and the DVD (pre-release). Terry Gilliam has got to easily be my favorite movie director of all time (with maybe one exception, but that's a completely different genre). There are a few clips on the official site for the movie.

I just saw The Brothers Grimm last week. I loved the fantasy elements of it. It just seemed like an attempt at a Hollywood Blockbuster. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather watch ANY Terry Gilliam film than pretty much anything coming out of Hollywood. Maybe he just needed one more shot at the big-time. I don't know. I shouldn't speculate.

Either way, I am dying to read Tidelands. I ought to get it just in time to read before I get the DVD. As I understand it, Tidelands is something of a cross between Alice In Wonderland and Psycho. That pretty much grabbed my attention. Didn't it yours? I've also read that the little girl (Jeliza-Rose - the main character/narrator) is as good a character as Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. That grabbed my attention, too. Didn't it yours? And if all of that is not enough....one of the first scenes in the movie has Jeliza-Rose cooking up heroin for her Dad. What more could you want? (this is tongue-in-cheek, I hope you know!) Still, I'm dying to experience the whole thing.

I'll keep you posted.
